Our search engine is very simple to use. Just type any number of words about the product that you're looking for, and the search engine will return all products that match all of the words. The more the words or the more specific the words, the more specific the search.
The words that you enter can be in any order, and can be taken from any part of the product. For example, to find books written by a particular author, just enter the authors name. If you're looking for a particular book by that author, you could add a word or two from the book's title. Of course, if you know the ISBN, you could just search for that.
The search engine does not do word stemming. This means that for example, 'run' is different to 'runs', which is different to 'running'. If the product you're looking for could contain any of a number of variations or alternate spellings of a word, then try individual searches for each variation.
The search engine always searches for products within the selected product tab, which is displayed in the tab list below the search text. You can change the category that will be searched by selecting a different one, or by selecting a sub-category within the browse tree on the left hand side of the page.
If you can't find what you're looking for, always try searching in a higher level category, as it's possible that it might not be catalogued, or it might be catalogued differently to what you're expecting. If you find a product that is mis-filed, please email [email protected] to let us know about it.
Happy hunting!
Searching tips:
All products at Loot.co.za are grouped into hierarchical categories. It is possible for one product to belong to several categories. The highest level of categories corresponds with the tabs at the top of the page.
If you hover your mouse over a high level category, a drop down tab menu containing the relevant sub-categories will appear below the high level category. Clicking on a category in this list will result in the sub-categories within that category being displayed in a navigation tree on the left hand side of the page. By selecting any of the categories in this list, products from the selected category will be displayed on the main part of the page. Products are ordered by popularity with the most popular products being displayed first. By using the See more buttons on the right side of the page, and page numbers and <prev and next> buttons at the bottom of the page, it is possible to page through the products in the category.
Some categories in the navigation tree have more detailed sub-categories. If you click on one that does have sub-categories, the sub-categories will be listed (indented) below the parent category and the list of products displayed on the page will relate to the category that is selected.

To use wishlists or to buy goods from Loot.co.za, you need to be a registered customer. If you're not already registered at Loot.co.za, click on the Register button on the top of our web page.
Our wishlists allow you keep lists of products that you're interested in. You can also use them as a way of listing items that you would be interested in receiving notification as to when a particular items becomes available to order or if there is a reduction in price.
Wishlists can be either private or public. Only you are able to see your private wishlists. Other Loot.co.za shoppers can see your public wishlists if they know your email address, and can select items from the list to buy for you. Other customers can see only the unallocated items in your wishlist, so we prevent you getting the same gift twice!
You can set up as many wishlists as you want to, giving each a different name. This can be useful if you want to separate things that you want to buy for yourself from those that you want other people to buy for you. In this case, you could use two wishlists, the first private and the second public. If you have a family, you could set up a wishlist for each family member.
To create a wishlist, go to your Wishlists page by clicking on the Wishlists button at the top right of the page and click the Add new wishlist button. You may be asked to enter your password at this point. On the next screen, type in a unique name for the wishlist and check the box if you want the wishlist to be private. Now press the Submit button.
You will see an Add to wishlist button on every product detail page. Just click it to add the product to your wishlist. If you have several wishlists, a combo-box next to the button lets you select the target wishlist. If you want more than one of an item, you can add it to the wishlist again.
Your wishlists page always lists all your wishlists. To change the settings for any wishlist, click the corresponding Change wishlist settings button. The form that follows allows you to change the name or privacy setting for the wishlist, or to assign a delivery address to the wishlist. Assigning a delivery address to a wishlist is optional and makes it easier for other customers to deliver gifts to you. Note that assigning a delivery address to a public wishlist means that other people will be able to access the address.
Should you wish to remove items from your wishlist, go to your wishlists page, and press the Delete button next to the item to remove. If you want to remove all the items on the wishlist, press the Clear this wishlist button. If you want to delete the entire wishlist, press the Delete this wishlist button.
When someone else looks at your public wishlist, they will only see those items that haven't yet been put in someone else's cart or order. When viewing you own wishlist, you will always see all the items, whether they are allocated or not. Items that are allocated include information on whose cart or order includes those items.
To use wishlists or to buy goods from Loot.co.za, you need to be a registered customer. If you're not already registered at Loot.co.za, click on the Register button on the top of our web page.
To use someone else's wishlist to buy a gift for them, the first step is to find their wishlist. You can find the wishlist by typing in their email address in the space provided on the wishlists page, and then pressing the Search button to display it.
To buy an item from the wishlist, first click on the item's title or image to bring up the detail page for that product. Now press the Add to cart button to add that item to your cart. If there is no Add to cart button on the detail page, it means that the product is not currently available and you will have to choose another item.
After you've added the item to your cart, that item is reserved for you to buy and no-one else will be able to buy the same item. You can verify that the item in your cart is linked to the wishlist by pressing the Your cart button at the top of the page. Next to the item it should say From a wishlist belonging to ... If you delete the item from your cart, it automatically becomes available for someone else to purchase again.

The Loot.co.za referral program is a program whereby any of our customers can earn vouchers in return for referring new customers to Loot.co.za. You can also find out more about the referral program by consulting the referral FAQ. You can refer people you know by sending them an email message (or we can send one on your behalf). You can also refer people that visit your website by including Loot.co.za product links or banner ads on your web pages.
You will earn a R50 voucher to spend on purchases of R250.00 or more, for each new customer that you refer. Referral vouchers are issued on completion of the referred customer's first order. These vouchers are not transferable and may not be exchanged for cash.
Referrals are tracked using a "cookie" that is set when the person clicks on one of your specially formatted links. You can get the link that you need to send to your friends by clicking the Referral links link accessible from your account once you've signed in. The same page also provides links that you can use to display banners and product links on your web pages.
If you just tell your friends about Loot.co.za, that won't earn you referrals - you need to get them to click on the link that you email to them, or that you display on your website.
When one of your referrer links is clicked, we will set a "cookie" on the web browser of the person who clicked the link. You don't need to worry about the mechanics of this process, but the net result is that if the person uses that browser to register on Loot.co.za before the cookie expires, then you will be recorded as that person's referrer. The cookies that we set expire after a month. If the person already has one of our referral cookies set when your link is clicked, the existing cookie takes precedence.
Referrals are only recorded using the mechanism above. We cannot change or set a person's referrer once that person has registered on Loot.co.za.
You may not make use of affiliate or referral links as part of a Loot.co.za funded campaign. For example, if we have opted to buy paid advertising on your web site, or if you are charging Loot.co.za for clicks or impressions, then the links that you use may not include your affiliate or referrer id.
You may not include links on your website if your website contains material that is of an offensive, racist, or pornographic nature.
Banner images that you display on your website may not be altered in any way, and must be served from a Loot.co.za web server - you may not make local copies or serve the images from your web server.
If we change the referral fees or commission structure, then the new fees and structure will apply to all referrals that become eligible for payment from that point onward, even if the referred customer registered on Loot.co.za before the change.
These referral program guidelines should be read in conjunction with the normal Loot.co.za Terms and Conditions of Use.
In addition to the referral program, we also have an affiliate program which is aimed at more prominent web sites that need to earn cash for referrals rather than vouchers.
The Loot.co.za affiliate program is a program whereby participating organisations can earn money by promoting Loot.co.za to visitors to their websites. This program is aimed at prominent websites and portals that need to earn cash for referrals rather than vouchers. Most people should use our referral program instead.
In order to become an affiliate, you first need to register as a customer on Loot.co.za, and then fill in the affiliate application online.
You will earn 5% of the value of the first order for each customer that you refer.
