Through the prophet Joel, the Lord says that He will restore what was lost and consumed. He does not merely promise a better future, He actually promises to utilize your past devastation in such a way so as to transform the loss of the past to profit. The butterfly does not even remember being a caterpillar. Nor will you even lament your devoured and wasted years. The Lord will cause your future to be fruitful in amazing ways. The caterpillar begins as a devourer, but becomes a useful and fruitful butterfly, an insect that has a productive purpose. God spoke this verse to the author of this book, my husband Larry, shortly after he met Jesus in 1979. Larry had been lamenting his past wasted years. Now, almost 30 years later, he can testify to the truth and fulfillment of this promise.
