A House Inside Of Me - Poetry by Marian Elsie Blake (Paperback)

Marian Elsie Blake was a woman way ahead of her times. She wrote poetry her entire life for her children, funerals, births, church sermons, and many other life events. But, her humble nature meant that she never published any of it. After her death in 2007, we found more than 100 poems around her house. They were in her own handwriting, typewritten on assorted sheets of paper, written in her well loved Bible, and stashed in multiple places around her house. A House Inside of Me is the first publication of her poems, which she recited frequently for those who knew her. Her poetry gives us hope and comforts us regarding matters of family, society, birth, love, nature, death, and Heaven. We are treated to the everyday wisdom of this nurse who devoted her life to be "just a minister's wife." She was really a mother, grandmother, oil painter, seamstress, songwriter, musician, gardener, and of course poet. Marian is a symbol for a bygone era. With nearly 100 original poems (and some videos from 2003 in the iBook), A House Inside of Me, brings clarity to a chaotic world and reminds us of God's love. Marian's story (1920's through 2007) lifts us up from everyday existence. Mothers, parents who have lost their own children, ministers, faith-based groups, funeral directors, and activists for social change and justice will find her forward thinking messages make us all feel better, stir our inner souls, and give us peace. A House Inside of Me offers the wisdom from a beloved storyteller, a special lady from a time gone by to transcend all time.
