The Economic Research Service (ERS) is part of the U.S. Department of Agricultural (USDA). Its focus is to analyze and distribute economic information and research. Uzbekistan is one of the world's largest cotton exporters, but output and exports are in a long-term decline, in part because the government heavily taxes cotton producers.
