Plant kingdom is known to be the oldest friend of mankind and human beings directly or indirectly depend on the plants not only for the grant of food and shelter but also for curing of different ailments. Traditional knowledge of plant diversity and study of how the people of a particular culture and locality make use of native plants in indigenous communities is termed as Ethnobotany. It has roots in botany which has close ties with medicine and is originated from an interest in finding plants to help in fight against diseases. Many drugs of today have been derived from the plant resources. Knowledge of Ethnobotany is not new for the world rather it has been forgotten. Our ancestors are using various traditional recipes of plants for the treatment of different health problems. This traditional knowledge has started to disappear with the passage of time due to insufficiency of written manuscripts and low or no income investment in these folklore.
