Evaluating State-Operated Comprehensive Rehabilitation Centers (Paperback)

Public operated comprehensive rehabilitation centers have been in existence for over 50 years and provided valuable vocational rehabilitation services to thousands of persons with disabilities. These facilities offer a wide range of services seeking to assist the individual gain or maintain employment and offer unique opportunities for persons with the most significant disabilities. These facilities are generally large in nature and costly to operate in terms of tax payer dollars, yet little empirical research exists evaluating the effectiveness of this approach to vocational rehabilitation. This study seeks to address this lack of knowledge, by analyzing factors that contribute to center participants' ability to complete their planned center program. It also seeks to determine whether persons who complete a public operated comprehensive rehabilitation center vocational rehabilitation program are more likely to gain employment than center participants who did not complete their center program.
