Israel Isidor Mattuck, Architect of Liberal Judaism (Hardcover, New)

In developing the Liberal Jewish Synagogue (LJS) and the wider Liberal Jewish movement, Israel Mattuck did not work alone, but alongside Claude Montefiore and Lily Montagu. However, of the three, Israel Mattuck appears to have been the most influential. His authority was partly the result of his personality and intelligence, but also his thorough Jewish education, which in England only Israel Abrahams could equal, together with his first-hand exposure to the American Reform Movement.
