I fancied this tale, with its twists and turns and coming from left field. I did see the one twist coming so maybe I've read too much fantasy (LOL). Really looking forward to getting the next one.
I had this as an audio book while we were on our road trip as it was our BOTM and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love my fantasy particularly when it's got a lot of adventure! It's like kinda like [author:Melissa Delport|7034215]'s [book:The Legacy|18812443] dystopia stuck in a high fantasy world on crack. You have the good guys who aren't always good with a bad who isn't always bad and a plot twist you didn't particularly see coming. And don't mind the love triangle too much, I generally hate them, they're tacky and so done but it's needed to flesh out the story properly and keep you guessing. I have book 2 in my grubby paws but am sad to hear this series is only ended in 2018! Ah, I hate waiting for series. But if the rest are as good as the first am sure it's worth the wait.
The Red Queen has had a mixture of reviews on Goodreads, so I was not sure what to expect. It was good with a solid story line but predictable and the (many) loose ends frustrated me clearly I need to read the next book in the series. I didnt feel the romance was genuine (insert sad emoticon) and there were several things about the story that didnt quite add up Full review: http://crushingcinders.com/red-queen-victoria-aveyard
