The book focuses on the mental aspect of soccer and covers game awareness, field vision, decision-making, game pace, mental speed, positioning, movement without the ball, tactics and unselfishness to get developing players to the next level. By improving mental speed, ambidexterity and decision-making, your soccer skills will transcend into instinctiveness on the pitch. Although I see many players learning the physical and technical aspects of soccer, not much emphasis is placed on the mental side of the game. What a players sees in match play determines what he/she can do. Two players may see the same rolling ball in a game differently, depending on skill level. One player might see it as a chance to kick it down field while another sees an opportunity to utilize open space, draw in the defense, and split the defenders with a lead pass. Soccer Intellect, or SI for short, is designed to teach players how to think and play at the same time. Improved decision-making on and off the pitch will lead to better soccer.
