This is a "must own" for any self-respecting Pagan or Wiccan. Ronald Hutton is a historian who has made a proper study into modern Pagan religion and Wicca. He has dispelled many of the myths surrounding these religions such as claims of any continuity from an ancient source. He thoroughly investigates the claims made by Gardner et al. and offers a factual explanation for the origins for the many aspects that make up modern pagan religion. However, he clearly points out that although the modern form of Paganism clearly seems to have started in the 19th centuary it does not make it any less valid a religion. In fact he sees it as one great thing which Britian has given to the world - a modern religion. Proff. Ronald Hutton has done a great service to the followers of all modern pagan religions in doing a serious study into the subject and showing that it is a religion that should be taken note of and shown respect despite it's modern beginnings.
